The honest version. We don't track you, we don't advertise, and we don't sell anything. Here's exactly what we keep and why.
An identity cookie remembers your handle and streak on this device, so the wall knows it's you when you come back. It holds a record ID and a device token, nothing about who you are. It lasts up to two years.
A "one cheer per person" cookie holds a random ID so the same person can't upvote or report the same post over and over. It carries no personal information and lasts up to one year.
A session cookie keeps the site working and secure (it powers the form's anti-forgery token). It goes away when your session ends.
A small theme + cookie-notice preference is saved in your browser so we don't flash the wrong colors or re-ask you about cookies.
Your posts (the words and any photo you choose to share), your handle, your streak and badges, and a one-way hash of your recovery phrase. We never store the recovery phrase itself.
We keep a salted, one-way hash of your IP address (not your raw IP) purely to rate-limit spam and abuse.
If you choose to add an email, we use it for one thing only: emailing you a recovery link so you can bring your record to a new device. We don't send newsletters, we don't share it, and we don't sell it. You can remove it any time from the "You" panel, or ask us to delete it.
There are no tracking pixels, no analytics scripts, no advertising cookies, and no third-party trackers on this site. We don't build a profile of you and we don't sell or rent any data.
You can remove a single post yourself with the report button, or clearing your browser data removes the identity cookie from this device. To delete your record, your posts, or your recovery email from our server, email hello@wsbroundtable.com and we'll take care of it. Our moderators can also delete posts on request.
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. If you're in the EU or UK (GDPR), Brazil (LGPD), or California (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to access, correct, and delete your data, and to not be sold or profiled, we already don't do the last two. Just email hello@wsbroundtable.com and we'll help.
